Claims
Notify a claim
Tell us early. A notification costs nothing and a late one can cost a great deal.

Notify us as soon as you can
If a loss has happened, or something has happened that might give rise to a claim on business we have written, tell us straight away. You do not need to wait until the facts are settled, the damage is quantified or the cause is established. An early notification with gaps in it is more use to everyone than a complete one that arrives late.
Notifying us through this page does not vary any notice provision in the underlying contract. Please continue to give notice under the slip in the ordinary way.
Contracts carry their own notification requirements and time limits, and those continue to apply. This page is a way of reaching our underwriting team quickly; it does not replace the contractual route and it does not extend any deadline.
How to reach us
- By email
- underwriting@quorinspecialty.com
- By telephone
- +44 7701 345551
- Using this page
- The form in section 5 reaches the same team.
If a loss is significant and time is short, telephone us and follow up in writing. Do not wait for a written notification to be complete before telling us a large loss has occurred.
What we need to know
Tell us as much of the following as you have. Anything you do not yet know can follow.
- the cedant, and the unique market reference or our own reference;
- the date of loss, and the date you became aware of it;
- where the loss occurred;
- what happened, and the peril involved;
- an estimate of the loss at 100 per cent, in its original currency, however provisional;
- whether a loss adjuster, surveyor or other expert has been appointed, and who;
- anything time-critical: preservation of evidence, mitigation underway, third-party involvement, or a regulatory or criminal investigation.
What happens next
A notification is acknowledged and passed to the underwriter responsible for the placement, who identifies the contract, the reinsurers on the risk and our own position, and comes back to you on what is needed next.
We handle claims on the business we write under authority delegated to us by the reinsurers carrying the risk, within the limits they have agreed with us. Where a claim falls outside those limits, or where the contract requires it, we refer it to the reinsurers concerned rather than deciding it ourselves. Where a claim reaches the size or the kind that requires a loss adjuster to be appointed, we will tell you.
We will tell you who is dealing with the claim and how to reach them. If you have not heard from us within two business days of notifying a loss, please chase us.
Send a notification
This form reaches the same place as an email to underwriting@quorinspecialty.com. If you would rather send documents, or the loss is urgent, email or telephone us instead and we will pick it up the same way.
Complaints about a claim
If you are unhappy with how a claim has been handled, our complaints procedure sets out how to raise it and what we will do. Raising a complaint does not affect the claim itself, which continues to be dealt with on its merits.
